MITCHELL'S MADNESS WHAT IS HAPPENING? The holidays are here and oh what fun we'll have! I certainly hope that we'll have fun but I certainly also know that this time of the year brings worries and sadness for some. My health classes are learning ways to deal with stress, change, peer pressure and all the things that cause our lives to alter at any given moment. As a reminder, the 8th grade classes will return from the holidays to have egg babies. Look for those notes then! Winter sports are in full swing. The 8th grade basketball teams are storming through the season with really exciting games and outcomes! Our 7th grade basketball teams have just been selected. Their season starts late in January. Our two cheerleading squads are also chosen and leading the way!. The wrestling team has lots of new faces this year but with the faces has come some exciting matches. Please find some time to come cheer for a PATRIOT! They will appreciate it. Spring sports try outs will be starting about midway through February and should your child be interested in trying out for any spring sport now would be the time to think about physicals, proof of insurance, etc. All future athletes need to start listening to the announcements so that they are prepared for tryouts. If you were not in attendance at our mandatory meeting for athletics at the beginning of the year you and your child will need to meet with me prior to participation. Again, if there are any questions or concerns please feel free to call any time. Booster club meets each Monday of the month. If you are the parent of an athlete we expect you to help at some point during the school year to assist in getting all the things accomplished for all our athletes. Our Booster Club PAYS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT, UNIFORMS, AND MISCELLANEOUS COSTS FOR EVERY ATHLETE IN OUR SCHOOL. For this to continue, WE NEED YOUR HELP. Our Booster Club has its own web site and I encourage you to check on there for notes and updates, schedules, etc. If you have any questions please call me at 704-638-5561 extension 102.
