November!
What a fast paced month this has been. Our students will only be in school for 15 days in November because of teacher workdays and holidays. Despite the short weeks, our ESOL students have been very focused and hard working during our classtime together.
Sixth graders will be engaged in a thematic unit on Ancient Greek storytelling and will then be assigned independant research projects on how the five themes of geography have influenced various countries and its culture. These activities will support the 6th grade Language Arts classes and their Big 6 Research objectives.
Seventh graders will be reading an interview with a Mexican-American songwriter and analyzing her poems. They will be responsible for identifying the main ideas of her writing and analyzing the usage of various literary devices in her poems. The students will then discover her inspirations for her songs which will then lead to their research of Cesar Chavez. They will be responsible for teaching each other the influence of Chavez's social reform in the United States and how he has impacted North Carolina today.
Let's reach for success together!
