January 2010

Welcome back!  We all enjoyed a well deserved break and now it is back work.  For the month of January our students will be reading and analyzing the biography of Harriet Tubman.  They will read and listen to Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" Speech in honor of the Martin Luther King holiday.  Eighth graders will also be reviewing science and analyzing the important vocabulary necessary in interpreting the Periodic Table.

Our sixth graders will be investigating the British Isles and the Nordic countries.  They will also research Viking Life and summarize how the physical features of their country influenced their culture and their thirst for exploration.

Just a reminder that January 18, 2010 is a holiday and there will be no school.  Also, January 21 and 22 are teacher workdays and there will be no school for students.
Best wishes for a successful New Year.
Sincerely,

Kim Turnbull
