We welcome all of our students back to school. It is time to get to work before we begin ACCESS testing starting February first. There will be no school January 16th because of the Martin Luther King Holiday and January 23rd because of a teacher workday. The third quarter will begin on January 24th and students will begin their new exploratory classes. Our 8th graders are now reading about a time period in US History when lack of rainfall decimated an entire region of our country. Students have studied the The Dirty 30's and they have started reading and discussing a wonderful historical fiction novel called Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. They will use EDU 2.0 to reflect, research, and discuss the novel more in depth as a class. Our Novice group is working on Rosetta Stone and learning WIDA social and Instructional vocabulary. The developing students are working with sight words and using the ACCESS History textbooks to describe what happened during the era of exploration and colonization in the United States. Remember if you or your family has any questions to please call 704-638-5561 ext. 133 or stop by room 708 anytime. Wishing the Best for Success, Sincerely, Kim Turnbull Go Patriots! In compliance with federal law, the Rowan-Salisbury School System administers all educational programs, employment activities and admissions without discrimination because of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, color, age, military service, disability, or gender, except where exemption is appropriate and allowed by law. |
