Welcome to West Rowan Middle School and a shining new year-- 2010. With a new year comes the opportunity for a new beginning and new possibilities.
The great American pastime at every New Year's celebration, it seems, is to make resolutions. Most of those promises are well-intentioned, but sadly, rarely ever kept. This year we want to support our students in keeping resolutions that may lead to to more study, improved physical fitness, or engagement in community service. All these goals, once accomplished, will be sources of pride for our students. At West Middle, we know that academic achievement at school is only a part of the makeup of a well-rounded, well-adjusted adolescent. And as educators we are committed to not only reading, writing and arithmetic, but to the whole child. We ask that parents and community join us in our efforts. Encourage your middle school student to join a club, read a good book, and become involved in service above self. We look forward to hearing about these efforts as we move toward the celebration of Martin Luther King's birthday this month. It is our hope to have a log of activities our students have engaged in to better their community. Pictures and a description of activities are welcome. We would like to spread the word about our West Middle students! Enjoy your January and your new year. |
