Welcome to First Grade and our Homework website!

Reading: This week we will be reading,"Splash!"  a cute story about friends helping each other.   We will be introducing the final short vowel "e."  We will also focus on comprehension, reviewing short u, short a, short i, th, sh (the "H" Brothers!) and beginning and ending consonants.

We will learn about plural nouns.

Spelling: Our words are: pet, then, wet, red, hen, shed, good, away, put, and into.

Bonus Word:  Thanksgiving

 Children are expected to remember upper case letters in the beginning of sentences and punctuation ("end marks") at the end while doing dictation sentences. Please remind them as you are practicing. 


Math: We will complete unit 4 - graphing.

Perhaps you have noticed the timed tests coming home. We are trying to increase accuracy along with speed in computation by giving a two minute timed test of 25 problems three times a week. Please practice math facts we send home each week to help with this goal. The facts will be tested on Friday’s spelling test.


Social Studies: We will be learning the Thanksgiving story.
