Week of May 16th

Reading - The children will be reading the story The Kite from the book, Frog and Toad.  Essential Question: How does a problem make a story  interesting?  

Spelling Words: my, try, sky, fly, by, dry, pie, cried, night, light, myself, brighter, heard, should.

Please continue practicing spelling each night  and encourage children to color in a flower on their spelling contract. 

 Phonics: Long i spelling patterns- igh, y, ie;  Although we have already studied long i, this week we will do alternate spellings of long i.  We will continue base/root Words with endings- -ed,  -ing,  -er, -est, -es.  Some of the root words change when adding endings, ex., hop - hopping; hope - hoping.

Math: Chapter 21 Adding Two Digit Numbers
