Development of Europe Culminating Activity

Congratulations social studies students!  You have been chosen by Metka and Lee Enterprises to develop the next latest and greatest board game that will have families everywhere flocking to store shelves to purchase.

Your assignment is to make a board game based on the events we have learned about that have helped to shape European history.  Games should be constructed on a sheet of large poster board.  You will also need to design a set of trivia cards to be used when playing with the game.  Be sure to also include comments here and there along the spaces for interest, such as: lose a turn, go back 3 spaces, move forward 2 spaces, etc.  You should decorate the rest of the game board with pictures of important events, people, or places involved in the time period of which the game is based upon.

Trivia questions should vary in range of difficulty from easy to difficult. You should also create a clear set of rules for your game.  Your trivia cards will need to be divided into the following categories:

European Exploration- 5 cards

World War I- 5 cards

Russian Revolution- 3 cards

Treaty of Versailles- 2 cards

Worldwide Depression- 3 cards

Rise of Nazism- 2 cards

World War II- 5 cards

Cold War- 3 cards

German Reunification- 2 cards

                             Total- 30 cards

Focus groups will be playing the games in class to determine which games should go into production. Prizes will also be given to the most creative, best design and most fun to play!
