Course description: French 1 provides the student with a sound basis for learning contemporary French and increases students’ awareness and understanding of the French-speaking world, its people and culture.  Basic language skills are developed:  listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing.

Real-life applications are emphasized throughout the course. Students are expected to review each lesson and practice the language a minimum of 30 minutes/day outside of class.

Prerequisite: A grade of “B” or better in English is strongly recommended. 

             

Grading Policy: 

The Lee County grading scale will be used. 

Class grades will be calculated based on

                          Listening/speaking/reading/writing practice:                  60%

                          Assessment of listening/speaking/reading/writing skills  40%

 

OBJECTIVES:  At the end of each chapter students should be able to:
