Dear Parents,
This month we will be talking about the food pyramid inscience. We’ll be learning how to makehealthy food choices. To compliment thisscience unit, we are reading several versions of the book, Stone Soup. We will be comparing the Stone Soup books(similarities and differences: characters, setting, soup ingredients, story endings, etc.). On Thursday, November 19th, ourclass will make stone soup. Ask yourchild to tell you the story about stone soup. The children will choose a vegetable they’d like to add to thesoup. They should bring this freshvegetable to class on Thursday. We’llrefrigerate our soup until Friday, November 20th We’ll have our Stone Soup feast on the 20th.I will ask the children to come to school dressed as a Native American or aPilgrim. We will be making very simplecostumes in school, which your child will take home. Please encourage him or her to wear one ofthem on Friday, the 20th. Youmay be called by one of the room mothers to provide some other food items whichwe’ll need for our feast. Thanks, inadvance, for helping us out!
