Conferences times are flexible, and planning time is 9:00-10:30 daily.

Second Semester Course Content:

Novels:       Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

Assignments include vocabulary words, study guides, and literary analysis

                    papers.

If you are able, purchase your own copies.  It is helpful to be able to

                    write in the novels.

Short Stories:  We will read several O. Henry stories for sure, but at this point I do not

know how much time we will have before EOG testing begins.

Poetry:       Various poems will be studied which include all types of subjects and

                   structures.

Projects:  Personal collections and poetry slam.

WordSkills: Lessons 26-30

Grammar focus:  Compound and complex sentence construction, subject-verb

                   agreement, and correct punctuation.

Student-Led Conferences during third nine weeks.  Date has not been set.

Grading policies are based on the Rowan-Salisbury guidelines.

Discipline expectations:   Be respectful. Be responsible.  Be ready to learn.

Supplies: Paper, pencil, agenda, and binder.
