FOURTH QUARTER: 4/26/10 & 4/27/10 American History- rough thesis statement due and stock market portfolios due next class period Humanities- none World History - Chapter 11, sect. 1 Questions 2-7 World Geography- none4/28/10 & 4/29/10 Wednesday & Thursday: American History- work on year end project Humanities- none World History- p. 396 #1-21 World Geography- none FOR 8TH GRADE: Topic for Final Project Select either a person or event between 1865 and 1985 and explain the impact of the person or event on American History. (You must convince your reader that this person or event is extremely important in American History) As with the History Fair project, you need to show the immediate impact and the lasting effects. This should have little biographical information- only enough to explain basic background information; REMEMBER your focus is on proving the impact!!! Timeline for 8th grade final project: April 16- sign up for topics- if accepted by Mrs. Carias, begin research April 28/29- rough thesis statement due (35 pts) May 10/ 11- outline, webbing, or plan for paper due (75 pts) May 13/14 – check of notes/note cards (75 pts) May 17/18- check of sources (7 due, 2 of which need to be books) (75 pts) May 19/20- rough draft due for in-class editing (80 points) May 25/26- rough draft of paper due (175 pts) June 7/8- final draft due (350 pts). This includes a title page, paper (with any footnotes or endnotes), works cited page (must have a total of 8 sources, 3 of which should be books), and appendix, if needed. Final paper MUST be typed according to the requirements set in the handouts. You MUST have a work-cited page, and all papers MUST include proper documentation. Failure to properly document and cite your sources will be considered plagiarism and will result in a zero. If you have questions about citing your sources, please refer to the handout, and see me.
