Week of December 14 - 18, 2009 Each student is expected to come to class prepared for the day's work. He/she will need a pencil, pen, loose-leaf notebook paper, and the student textbook. A number of students are not turning in their assignments for grading. Many students have been given silent lunch and even spoken with Mrs. Turner concerning not completing their work. Please discuss with your child the importance of completing and turning in assignments on time. The Georgia 8th Grade Writing Assessment will be given on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. The students will take the test in their respective homerooms. Each student will need both a pencil and a traditional blue or black pen for the test. TESTS AND PROJECTS:
Since returning from Christmas, the students have taken a test over The Pigman and have written several expository and persuasive essays in preparation for the state writing assessment. Next week each student will pick the essay they would like to have graded. All essays are written and/or typed at school. To begin each day in language arts, the students work on Daily Grammar Practice. I have provided each student with a spiral notebook to complete this work and to use as a journal. This notebook is kept in the classroom.
