We are extremely proud of our students for their academic achievements and athletic accomplishments.  For 11 times in the last 13 years, Salisbury High School (SHS) was named a school of "High Growth" for scores on the North Carolina testing program.  For the second time, SHS was declared a "School of Distinction" (80-90% proficient) on the same state testing program.  Further, U.S. News and World Report awarded SHS a bronze medal as one of the top 1,750 best schools in the country and one of the 44 best in North Carolina.  On the federal testing program, SHS easily surpassed the target goals for accomplish in reading and math but did not make adequate yearly progress (AYP) because several sub-groups of students were not at the required participation level. 

In athletics for the 2009-2010 school year, SHS received recognition by the state as having the Best Overall Athletic Program in 2A competition, and accordingly, was awarded the state Wachovia Cup.  This year SHS is off to a good start toward winning the Wachovia Cup again.  All seven athletic teams in fall competition made the state playoff where girls' cross country finished third, girls' golf finished second, and girl's tennis won the state championship (for the third consecutive year).  The lone remaining SHS team in state competition is football which finished tied for third place last year and could do as well or betterr this year.
