HORTICULTURE/AGRICULTURE CLASSES
Fall/Spring Semester 6th grade: The students will be covering information on basic agriculture, career opportunities, animals, and plants. 7th grade: The students will be completing a unit on FFA and will be rotating through the agriscience lab. Some topics to be covered for the next few weeks include animal science, food science, plant science, aquaponics, aquaculture, basic electrical wiring, basic home plumbing, and soil science. Many hands-on activities are scheduled for each module they study. Students will also complete a wood working, shop project during the semester. 8th grade: The students will be covering information on forestry, agriculture careers, FFA and leadership, animal care, plant and animal I.D. and plant science. Several hands-on projects are scheduled for school grounds and the wood shop. ***As needed, classes will complete projects on school grounds or in the greenhouse. Each class will have an opportunity to learn in this manner. No homework is assigned since all work is completed in the classroom or lab area. [EVENTS AND DATES TO REMEMBER] FFA To join the FFA, the student must pay $10.00 (annual dues) which will cover state and national dues. Each member will receive the FFA magazine every 2 months. |
