We had a number of students participate in a wide variety of summer programs this year. We are so excited for the growing number of opportunities that our students have the privilege to be a part of. Please take the time to come to guidance to review the opportunities that are available to your student.

Summer is a great time for a high school student to explore academic interests, cultivate leadership skills and just have fun. Below is a list of some summer programs that we are aware of in Guidance. Surely there are many more programs out there. You may want to search the internet for programs based on leadership or a particular field of study. Some programs are free and many have a charge. We encourage students to consider these and other summer opportunities as they are a great way to show "depth" beyond high school, a quality that can reap benefits in college admissions and scholarships. (The Guidance Counselors do not endorse any of these programs, but provide the information for your consideration).

Summer Ventures in Science and Math

An admissions committee, made up of professionals in education, science and mathematics from across North Carolina, selects approximately 700 finalists to participate. The application process takes place in early spring. Notification of selection is mailed mid to late spring.  Application forms are available in the guidance office and on line.
