ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages ESL - English as a Second Language LEP - Limited English Proficient ELL - English Language Learners Whichever way you say it, these are the students I serve. My job is to help them learn English while gaining success in their regular classes. ********************************************** I am part-time at Southeast Middle (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays) and part-time at Corriher-Lipe Middle (Tuesdays & Thursdays), but I will check my email regularly. That is usually the easiest way to contact me. Be sure to include your name and return email address. *********************************************** Southeast Middle School: I work in the following language arts classes (I'm certified to teach language arts as well as ESOL): *6th grade Noble Team (w/ Mrs. Walker) *6th grade Troubadour Team (w/ Mrs. McCoy) *7th grade Mustang Team (w/ Mrs. Kalinowski) *7th grade Corvette Team (w/ Mrs. Taylor) I also teach a pull-out class of 8th graders. *********************************************** Corriher-Lipe Middle School: I do pull-out classes with sixth and seventh graders. I taught high school theatre for a year before coming to Rowan County to teach middle school language arts for eight years. This is my first year of being an ESOL teacher and I love it! I do speak some Spanish and I'm studying to get better at it. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing with my dogs, spending time with friends, and all kinds of artistic activities (seeing plays, going to art museums, dancing, etc.) *********************************************** Some of My Favorite Books: *the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder *Homeless Bird by Gloria Whelan *The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo *The Giver by Lois Lowry *Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan *Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman *Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis *Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix Let me know your interests and I'll help you find a book you will love! |
