What We Are Learning

Math- Currently we are working with Geometry. Students are learning about line, line segments, rays, angles, shapes, and solid figures.

It is important that your child knows their basic math facts.  Try to work with your child nightly using flash cards to help with recognition.

Reading- We have been reading the novel, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Science- We are working with the Moon Phases and Constellations.

Writing-We are working on Focus and Organization Skills.

Social Studies- Students will be learning information about elections and how to be a good citizen.  They will be learning Social Studies with Mrs. Doom.

Nightly Homework:

Each night students are asked to read 20 minutes and log it on their Reading log in their Homework folders.  Students are asked to read books, magazines, newspaper articles, recipes, or even manuals to their games and then ask a family member to ask them a few questions about the selection.
** Some nights they may be given a Reading Comprehension Sheet.  If so, they are allowed to write this down in their log for the 20 minutes.

Math homework varies nightly. Most days there will be a sheet or a math page to complete.
Spelling homework also varies. It may be a worksheet from their book or an assignment that I assign.

Students write down homework everyday before we leave in the afternoon and are reminded to take home the appropriate materials to complete the work.
