What We Are Learning

Math-  Right now we are working on Multiplication Strategies.

  10's Test on December 18th

We have started our Measurement Unit. Students have worked with measuring items with NonStandard units and have begun their lesson on inches.  Next week we will learn about feet, yards, and miles.

If you can help your child start remembering that :

12 inches= 1 foot

3 feet= 1 yard

36 inches= 1 yard/3feet

5,280 feet= 1 yard

1,760 yards = 1 mile

Estimation Reminder:

5 or more raise the score

4 or less give it a rest!

Subtraction: Keep practicing your basic facts and having your child tell you how to solve a two and three digit problem with regrouping.

Science-

We are now working on our Plant Unit! Students will first learn about:
What a plant needs to survive/grow?
What are the plant parts and their jobs?
What is photosynthesis?
What is chlorophyll and how does it help out in
photosynthesis?

Writing-We are working on Focus and Organization Skills.

Nightly Homework:

Math homework varies nightly. Most days there will be a sheet or a math page to complete.

Students write down homework everyday before we leave in the afternoon and are reminded to take home the appropriate materials to complete the work.
