Welcome to Mrs. Bates & Mrs. Wells Resource K-5 Homepage We would like to welcome Everyone back to school! Please feel free to contact us at anytime for questions. You may call the school at 704-857-311. You will be notified on your child's progress through Progress Reports four times a year with their Report Cards. Please read below for some helpful reading, writing, and math tips that you can use at home: *Read aloud with your child as often as possible. Take turns between paragraphs or every other sentence. You can even practice changing your voices to reflect the characters feelings. *Have your child pick what they would like to read about. It could be a favorite book or if they are into sports an article in a magazine about their favorite player or team. *To help your child understand what they read: after reading a short part have them retell what was just read, have them predict what is going to happen next, ask them why they think that the character did what they did. You can find the answers toghther to make it more intersting/fun. *To help your child with writing, have them write about things that have meaing to them. - If they get an gift from someone have them write a thank you note. - If they have a favorite athlete, singer, actor, etc.. check to see if they have a fan club and have them write a letter to them. -Let them look at a photograph from a vacation and see if they can remember what happened and have them write about it. *For our rising 4th and 5th graders they need to practice multiplication facts. Find some flash cards at the dollar store to practice with. *See the websites listed below, they have several fun games to practice math skills. ![]() |
