February 6th Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying this wonderful "winter" weather. I don't thin k we have to worry about Mr. Phil's forecast. We never even had a winter! Last week was certainly busy with CSW week. We had a lot of fun, but as youi can imagine, the children were very wound up. I think I am happy that things are back to normal. We are doing a lot of writing in this class. The kids are really working on complete sentences and putting sentences together from words that I give them. We did write and learn all about Phil the groundhog for science and them we wrote about him. We also wrote about Martin Luther King, Jr. and talked about his life. This was part of Social Studies. We did not have time for the spelling test on Friday. Sorry! We will have it on Monday. We have been learning about the apostles and the stories in the Bible. These kids really love my religion classes. I want them to love religion in first grade. Our reading lessons are pretty full. We workj on comprehension, phonics, grammar, writing, spelling, poetry, oral reading, independent reading, and oral speaking. I will send the math cards home this week to practice. Please return them by Friday. Than ks! We are learning place value in Math. This can be difficult, but they will get it because we use tens rods to help them. I am teaching the kids about bears along with the groundhogs. We are having a great time discussing the differences. Have a great week! Sincerely, Mrs. Hillman Specials of the week: Monday - no library TUESDAY - Phys. Ed. WEDNESDAY - computer THURSDAY - Music, Spanish FRIDAY -Art |
