Theme: Basic Need Clothes and Letter "C"

Here's What We're Learning About...

Handwriting/Phonics - Letter "C". Students are able to practice proper formation of letters by using shaving cream on their tables, chalk slates, whiteboards, and Handwriting Without Tears worksheets.

Reading/Writing Students listened to "There's a Hole in my Pocket", "Hats, Hats, Hats", "Groundhog Gets a Say", and "A Substitute Groundhog". We focused on our basic need clothes and discussed why we have Groundhog's day and what our predictions were.  Students were able to use environmental print and developmental spelling to write.

Reading Series - Students listened to "Cat's Colors" and completed workbook pages.   We also listened to the poem "A Party for Casey" and picked out words that begin with the letter "C".

Math - Students are practicing counting and graphing in calendar math. We are discussing and practicing the different ways to sort objects by shapes and colors.  We are continuing to practice the correct formation of numbers. Students reviewed addition and subtraction. We celebrate the 90th day of school and completed the next page in our Zero the Hero projects!
Religion - Catholic Schools Week

Reading Workshop - Students were able to partner up and read to each other.

Centers:

February

February is slushy and short, only 28

days to play. Some of them sunny;

most of them gray. The best one of

all is Valentine's Day!!!

Zero the Hero

When you see a zero on the number line,

better watch out for a visit or a sign,

from our friendly super hero,

who loves to see a zero

Oh, he always comes to visit right on time.

School Prayer

Our Lady of Peace help me to to bring a happy and peaceful day to everyone I work and play with here at school.

Guide me to make good decisions so that each person I encounter will be happier. Then we can truly be a school full of your peace.
