Welcome to Room 310 Spring is Here!! **Congratulations to the students who received the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral this past weekend! **Students will attend the 8th grade awards on Wednesday, May 27. NO dress downs are permitted. **All Hempfield students will be picked up at 10:40 on June 4 due to a conflict with Hempfield.
**If AR quiz goals have been met for this quarter, students may take up to 5 additional AR quizzes and receive 2 bonus points for each quiz taken and PASSED, up to a total of 10 bonus points. Books should be a minimum of 2nd grade level, preferably 2.5 and above. Religion: We will be learning about the Ten Commandments and how we can use them as a guide to follow Jesus. Spelling/Phonics: New spelling words this week. Reviewing the rule for adding -ed and -ing to words. Students had a choice of either the practice book list or the challenge list. Both lists will be posted here. Monday: None Tuesday: Write the base word for each of your spelling words. Wednesday: Word search and crossword puzzle Thursday: Study for test on Friday. This week's words: practice book list: batted, running, clapped, stopped, getting, shopping, stepped, hugging, pinned, sitting, wrapping, raising Challenge list: whipping, wrapping, strapped, hummed, mixed, chased, bragging, swimming, raised, boiled, tried, taxing, cheering, delighted Reading: New story is called Thunder Cake. Students will order events in the story using words like first, last, then, next. Monday: Read for 15 minutes. Tuesday: Practice reading and using vocabulary words. Test Thursday, May 28. Wednesday: Study vocab. Thursday: none This week's words: weather, thunder, stammered, slit, samovar, rumbled, lightning, jagged, horizon, listening, gather, damp, croaked, crept, cooed, churned, bolt, bellowed Math: We are beginning multiplication. Students should memorize the facts of the 0, 1, 2 families. As we progress, we will learn the fact families for 5 and 10, then 3, 6,and 9, then 4 and 8. Monday: Tuesday: DHP 134; finish the array you started in class last week. If you finished it, make two more arrays on the same paper. Be sure to write a mulitplication fact for each array.
