This Week's Objectives:

Spelling/Phonics:    Blends, (gl, st, sp), soft c, hard c

Math:   Identifying coins; counting change

Reading:  Students should always have a just right, independent reader with them at all times.  This week we continue our new unit, Nature Walk.  We will read a nonfiction selection, Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett.

Social Studies:  We  started a unit about communities this week. We talked about the function of a community, how communities world wide are alike and different and we will compare and contrast rural, suburban, and urban communities.

Religion:   Our current  unit focuses on the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Students may still bring in items from their Baptism to share. 

Technology:   We completed a Venn Diagram that compared our home community to the communities discussed in our text book.  We will write about these differences.  Students will also take a STAR diagnostic reading test for the month of November.  Finally, we will begin to hone our keyboarding skills using Type to Learn.  A letter about Study Island, a web based program that we use for skill and content enrichment and remedial work, will be coming home soon.

Homework for Monday, November 2 - Thursday, November 5:

**Work on AR requirements for this quarter.
