SECOND NINE WEEKS Oral Language: SOL 1.1 Tells and retells stories in order Recites familiar short poems SOL 1.2 Uses time and position words when giving directions SOL 1.3 Asks questions SOL 1.4 Adds or takes away sounds to change words Blends sounds to make words Distinguishes between the middle vowel sound in one syllable words Reading: SOL 1.6 Reads and spells by: ÂUsing beginning and ending sounds ÂUsing short vowel sounds ÂBlending beginning, middle, and ending sounds ÂUsing word families such at cat, bat, sat ÂUsing common sight words (weekly words) SOL 1.9 Reads and Understands grade level material by: ÂMaking connections between experience and what is being read ÂMaking predictions before, during, and after reading ÂTelling what nonfiction selections are about ÂRetelling stories (fiction) SOL 1.10 Uses a grade appropriate dictionary Alphabetizes a list of 8 words using the first letter Math: SOL 1.5 Identifies objects in the first through tenth position in a line SOL 1.7 Estimates and gives a reason for the estimate *Other skills will be addressed. I am beginning my 27th year of teaching. Over the years I have taught children in many grades, and I adore first graders! My husbandÂs name is John and we have two daughters. This is my twelth year of teaching at Margaret Beeks. I am excited about beginning a new school year and look forward to getting to know your family.
