http://www.rss.k12.nc.us/_graphics/Holiday/NewYrClock.jpg It is hard to believe that it is 2010~ A new year and school is already almost half way gone. Boy does time fly! Below will give you a bit of insight on the start of our new year. Reading: We are beginning a unit on Poetry. Your children will have poetry terms and will learn a lot of new styles of poetry to write. I will be gathering samples for the Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans. I generally send them in around March. We get word around April or May of student's poems that are picked to be printed. Then it takes until the beginning of the next school year to be printed. I hope to have many, many samples to send in. Math: We are working on Division! Many students still do not know their multiplication facts. This will not help with division. We also spiral back to the beginning of the year each week when they test to help keep those skills on their mind. SS: We are working on NC Battles. Your child has picked a battle and will work on their brochure project here at school. These will be done at the end of January and will be an important part of their grade. Writing: Working on New Year's Resolutions and their Barrier papers. Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any concerns or comments.
