 Finish reading and annotating all of ACT I.  If the substitute allows, you may assign parts for each other and read out loud.  When you are finished,  answer the following questions in COMPLETE sentences. Make sure you use the text to back up your answers.

1. In Act I, whom does Macbeth seem to be motivated by?
2.  Which words or phrases lets the reader know that this play is about "opposites" or the reversal of natural order?
3.  What atmosphere is established in Act I?
4.  What is blank verse?
5.  What predictions do the witches make for Macbeth?  Banquo?
6.  What is a foil?  Who is a foil to Macbeth?
7.  How does Duncan feel about Macbeth? Macbeth about Duncan?

Immediatelyfollowing the disappearance of the witches, Ross and Angus bring the news thatwe, as an audience, already know regarding the Thaneship of Cawdor. Thissituation where the audience knows more than the characters is called dramaticirony.

Go onto GALE reference library and begin to research your person  for Black History Month.  Compile at least  5 sources.  Read / annotate/ highlight sources.  Your information MUST be printed  and annotated in order to gain credit.  If you can not find enough about your person, others sources may be used, however Wikipedia is NOT a reliable source.  Try the UC resources first.
