Chapter 11 Civil War Notes

Monday-Discussion of life after slavery and 13th Amendment

hw:  Imagine you are a newly freed slave and want to change your name.  What kind of name would you choose and why?  What kinds of names did newly freed slaves choose & why?

Tuesday:  African Americans in the Reconstruction Era/13th Amendment

Students will learn about & categorize areas of improvement for African Americans after the 13th Amendment.  hw: 

Scripture 1 Pink  Scripture 1 Blue

All Sections:  Chapter 10

Students will learn, define and list characteristics & situations that influence biographers vs. Gospel authors.  Students will reflect upon the way the Gospel authors wrote each of the Gospels.

Celebrating African American History Month

Monday - Students will choose a current 21st century African American leader and/or activist.  Each student will write one page, double spaced "bio" on chosen American.

Tuesday:  Students will write a letter to same African American leader with questions and remarks on their accomplishments.
