WELCOME TO 4th MARKING PERIOD HEALTH

 

EVERY DAY PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: laptop, writing implement and folder for handouts

All work for this class must be handed in by Friday June  8,2012. No work will be accepted after 2:10pm on that date.

WE ARE USING www.kidshealth.org THE TEEN SITE FOR OUR READING ARTICLES!! Bookmark that site for easy access.

Everyone should be logging in their physical activity each week for extra credit on www.dailyfitlog.com . You must have 3 log ins for 3 different days of the week in order to get extra credit. ***If you have not returned your signed exercise contract for extra credit to Mrs. O'Donnell please do so ASAP. ***

HEALTH ASSIGNMENTS

  • Week of March 26th- Read Health syllabus. Complete Exercise and Nutrition terms. Hand in for a grade.
  •  Return the Dailyfitlog.com Exercise contract signed by your parent/guardian and you.


  • Week of April 16- Read the following articles "Why exercise is Wise", Exercise Log" and "Making a change in your life"up at www.kidshealth.org they are located under the "food and fitness" tab and then under the "Exercise" tab. Scroll down the page until you see the articles listed above.
  • Go to www.dailyfitlog.com and sign in.  Then click on the "Goals" tab and read that page.  Then go to the "ADD A NEW GOAL" tab and type in  1 Exercise goal you would like to attain based on the S.M.A.R.T. theory and I will give you 1 extra credit point.
  • This week complete the Exercise Assignment and hand it in the next time the class meets for a grade.


  • Week of April 24- Everyone should have handed in the Exercise Assignment for a grade.  There will be a quiz on the Why Exercise is Wise Power Point and the reading material on the last class meeting of this week.  It will be matching and True/False.
  • Be sure to go to www.dailyfitlog.com and write 1 exercise goal on the goal page you would like to achieve. Be sure to use the SMART goal model.  This will count as extra credit.


  • Week of April30- Everyone should have handed in the www.choosemyplate.gov assignment for a grade. This week we will be finding out your daily food plan and then completing the Meal Tracking sheet and assignment for a grade.


  • Week of May7-Bring in a Food label for an extra credit. It can not be candy, soda or a water food label.  It must be the entire package(food label).
  • If you have a smart phone we will be downloading the fooducate app(free) to use in class.
  • Complete the meal tracking worksheet by writting down everything you eat and drink for one day. Use this worksheet to complete The meal tracking worksheet ASSIGNMENT.  This is a reflective assignment.  All Questions must be completed fully to get the credit for the assignment.

 

  • Week of May 14- Everyone should have handed in the Food label and Nutrition Facts assignment for a grade.

 

  • Week of May 21- Everyone should be taking the Nutrition Quiz this week based on the Myplate and food labels power point.  Also included is the food label article I handed out.  Be sure to know your definitions.  Everyone should be handing in the Drug term assignment for a grade.
