![]() The Vision of West Rowan Middle School At West Rowan Middle School opportunities for academic, physical, emotional, and social development are provided in a safe and nurturing environment. Extracurricular, as well as instructional, activities are an integral part of the educational experience. High expectations are held in regards to achievement, responsibility, and behavior. Students are motivated to work hard academically, make good choices, and take responsibility for their actions. Exploration and discovery are important components of the middle school experience at West. Students begin to see how they affect the world around them and begin to make decisions about the future. As they participate in various sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities, learn and practice good character traits and are encouraged to develop a strong sense of personal integrity. Attitudes of respect, equality, and acceptance of individual differences are evident at our school. Students are appropriately challenged to reach their full learning potential and are provided an instructional program that meets or exceeds the standards in all subjects. They are encouraged as their thinking processes develop “from concrete to abstract” and they become more independent learners. Knowledge is acquired and skills are mastered, preparing these students for success in high school, in secondary level education, and as productive citizens. Teachers use various approaches in their instruction, remembering that students learn at different rates and in different ways. Quality materials, technology, and human resources are utilized and learning experiences extend beyond the classroom. Faculty and staff members are held in high esteem for their competence, effectiveness, and commitment to student success. Administrators provide strong leadership, consistency, and support as a basis for unity in our school: and administrative decisions are based on what is best for the students. Parents feel welcomed and valued as partners in the educational process. They work cooperatively with principals, teachers, and staff, supporting education at school and at home. School personnel, businesses, and members of the community work collaboratively for the betterment of our school. |
