These will be the last notes posted on this site.
I have created a blog for our class; through which information will be shared.

I would also like to post various pictures of our class throughout the remainder of the school year.

In order to do that I will need parental permission to post student pictures, information, and to allow them to post on the blog.

I will be checking for previously signed internet permission slips and ensuring that parents still give permission BEFORE posting student pictures and content.
I will be sending home new permission slips in the Tuesday Folder on 1/5 to ensure that I have parental permssion.

SEPTEMBER 27, 2009
This is the last week for our current planner on water; we will begin our next planner which focuses on economics. During this planner we take our 1st field trip of the year--it is being planned and I will send information about the date, time and cost asap. Please remember when paying for field trips with a check, to make the check payable to Mark Twain not the PTO.

Also if you plan to chaperone a group of children on any field trip, a background approval must be completed first. Chaperones are welcomed and needed!
Otherwise you are welcome to accompany just your child on any field trip.

Don't forget our class party is this Wednesday starting at 5:00 pm on the pavillion.

Our class has just completed their first session of LDC classes, and the kids are still getting acclimated to it as third graders; as they continue to attend LDC classes their knowledge and skills will improve

AUGUST 31, 2009
GT classes will start this week; our class is scheduled to go on Monday

Regular Homework Assignments will be given this week for reading, math, spelling, mapskills, and vocabulary.
The students will have everything they need for homework in their binders. Please help them remember to bring their homework binders back to school each day. There is no homework assigned on Friday.

WELCOME TO THIRD GRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad to have met parents today, and look forward to meeting everyone soon. I enjoyed the kids today, and I believe they enjoyed their first day in 3rd grade as well---ask them about their day. While this is a big change from 2nd grade for you and your child; I know that together we can help them have a successful year. Let's make it happen!

A FEW THINGS TO MENTION:

CLASS SCHEDULE
I will send home a tentative class schedule this week.
Because our schedule depends so much on the scheduling of other classes and programs within our school; our schedule is subject to revision for the 1st month or so of school. Our schedule is also very busy and tight for 3rd grade, and because of that we need to start our day of learning 8:00. Students are dismissed at 3:00, in the cafeteria.


LUNCH
3rd Grade classes have a new lunch schedule this year that is much later than the children are used to from second grade. Our class has the latest lunch at 12:50. Because of that I encourage the kids to bring a snack to hold them until that time.

HOMEWORK
There will be some type of homework each day this week, but not for every subject. This week will be
spent reviewing homework expectations and procedures.
The students will bring home the guidelines for homework this week and will also have a copy to keep in their homework binder.
Please send a 1 inch, 3 ring binder with pockets for the kids to use for homework. (Any color)

LDC
Our class is scheduled to attend LDC starting next Monday-8/31 thru 9/11. The kids will learn a lot
about reading analysis and have fun learning. On the weeks that they attend LDC, there will be no other reading homework.

CLASS INFORMATION
Please complete, sign, and return the forms in the first week packet to school by 8/28.

COMMUNICATION
Parent conferences, and calls can be made during my planning time of 11:10 - 11:45 Monday - Friday.
I will also check my emails during that time.
