Welcome to Mrs. B's Classroom!
We are having a GREAT year in 2nd grade! There is lots of learning, exploring and fun taking place in our classroom. We love learning new things! Check out what we are doing next....
Math
We are working on place value, money, graphing, word problems and critical thinking in class. Lots of hands on learning is taking place in our room! Please practice addition and subtraction facts at home everyday.
Language Arts
We are learning to read and respond to a variety of texts and using
strategies to help us become better readers. Right now we are
working on comprehension, decoding and vocabulary skills.
In writing we are learning to write small moment stories that are focused, as well as breaking larger words down into syllables to help us spell. Be sure to spend at least 20 minutes reading everyday!
Science
We are studying weather! Our next unit will be changes in matter.
Social Studies
Communities, communities, communities! We continue to study the communities around us, the people in them and their culture. We are also going to be adding Time for Kids magazine to our Social Studies.
Building Thinking Skills
We are beginning this new program that focuses on higher order thinking skills. These thinking skills will be applied to all areas of our learning!
