June 16, 2010 Dear Parents and Guardians, Reading should be a daily part of your child's summer activities. Let your child read books that are enjoyable and that can be read with relative ease. If a book is a chore, it may too difficult. Reading independently and aloud, aid in maintaining important skills over the summer. A list of suggested books on several levels are listed below. Have your child take an active role in choosing books that interest them. This is only a suggested list and all can be found at your local library. Please keep a list of books read on the sheet provided and return, with parent signatures, to your new teacher on the first day of school. A good rule to remember is: "Every minute of television should equal a minute of reading." Have a blessed and safe summer!
