Mrs. Beam's U. S. History classes
The U.S. History students are studying USH Standard 2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the establishment of the United States as a new nation. Currently, students are working on a powerpoint presentation based on various topics from the CONSTITUTION. They will present them to the class the week of October 6. We will have a test on the CONSTITUTION, Friday, October 10th.
Don't forget to vote, Tuesday, Nov. 4!!!!
Blacksburg for school year 2008-2009 The Club will meet every OTHER Wednesday during lunch in Mrs. Beam's room, 202. The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 8th. We are proud to be one of six high schools in the state of SC who are members of the NATIONAL HISTORY CLUB. The Blacksburg History Mural is completed! Randy Parris, of Gaffney and Blast-Away Restoration completed the sandblasting to prepare the wall for painting on Saturday, March 1, 2008. Mr. Parris donated his labor to help the school and community with this project. He worked many hours to prepare a smooth surface for the mural. Mural artist, Chuck Bailie, of Spartanburg, SC, primed Kirby's Florist outer wall and began sketching the mural on Friday, March 28. The original sketch for the mural was designed by our own art teacher, Mr. Jared Harris. BAILIE completed his project at the end of May 2008. History Club students are currently selling lollipops to pay off the cost of the mural. Monies are still needed to finish paying for the project. Any person, business, church, or community group who would like to donate money to this exciting cause is encouraged to send it in care of BHS History Club. All donations are tax-deductible. We are still hundreds of dollars short of our goal. Please feel free to contact me, either through my email sherri.beam@gw.cherokee1.k12.sc.us or by the school phone 864-839-6371. Go BHS Wildcats!!!
