     Even though February  is the shortest month of the year, we will be extremely busy through out the month.

      Report cards will be issued on Tuesday, February 2nd.  The majority of the report cards show a vast amount of student achievement for the second quarter.

      Thursday, February 25th is our field trip to Horizon's Unlimited.  Due to lack of space, we cannot invite  parents to attend.  The children will interact with the programs:  Native American Indians and the Night Sky. The children always learn much in these programs.  We will be back at school in time to go to the cafeteria for lunch. 

      On Friday,  February 26th, the children will be excited to participate in Pajama Day.  Please remember to let your  child wear their pajamas to school that day.  Since it is cold, make certain that they have warm clothing underneath.  Bring house shoes/ slippers if you want, but wear tennis shoes in the event that it is warm enough to go outside to play.  Your child is also invited  to bring a stuffed animal for the day. It needs to be small enough to fit into their book bag.  Academics will not be forgotten  as in math they will be graphing and categorizing/sorting.  The children will read an Independent Reader to their stuffed animal and a Learning Partner.  The children will have a group picture made to go into their individual computer Keynote Project and tell about the events of the day.  

     Your child will bring home a class list for completing their Valentine’s Day cards to go to their friends.  Our class party to open these cards will be Friday, February 12th.  Please have your child’s completed Valentine cards to school by Wednesday of that week so that they will have time to sort them into the Valentine’s Day Bags.  

     Our Good Citizen Celebration will be Monday, February 8th.  This event will focus on those children who have not lost their stars more than 5 times this quarter.  

      Also, in February will be our discussions on the Presidents and the White House. The children will look on the internet and see pictures of the White House and former Presidents. Don't forget that we will be out on Monday, February 15th for President's Day.

Pennant.  They are displayed in the hall and many have enjoyed looking at the pennants and learning more about the children.  

      Playing games with the monthly Word Wall Words continue to be very important.  When you practice letting them learn to read and locate words on the word wall at home, it eliminates stress on them as they write each day. I am extremely pleased with the skills level of most of the children.  The majority  are so relaxed and confident as they go their writing area each day.

      The 25 sight words to master in Kindergarten are also important.  Please be working on those words frequently as we will be checking the mastery of all 25 on spelling tests that will begin in late March/early April.  These words are in the pamphlet that you received at orientation last spring and again at the parent report card conference in October.
