HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!
Hey Everyone,
The first month of school has come and gone! WOW! I hope everything is going well for you and your child. Remember to let me know if I may assist you somehow. Currently we are working on careers, jobs, what we want to be when we grow up. Fifth graders are completing career booklets which will result in a report to them which will give ideas as to what jobs they might be suited for. The children seem to be enjoying this. They really do have wonderful ideas. Our next character trait will be "courage" which will lead us into how we are all unique, and accepting diversity, or in one word "kindness."
I will be including the following books in these lessons:
Freedom Summer; Henry's Freedom Box; The Yellow Star; Tiger is a Scaredy Cat; Scaredy Squirrel; Barthello's Wing; Brave Irene; The Inch Boy and others.
I will leave the following booklist for your use.
I Ain't Gonna Paint No More; Liar, Liar Pants on Fire; Ruthie and the Not So Teeny Tiny Lie; Do Like Duck Does; The Honest to Goodness Truth
Some good books to read with your child about bullying follow:
The Recess Queen; Pinky and Rex and the Bully; Bye-Bye Bully; Oliver Button is a Sissy; Joshua T. Bates, Trouble Again; King of the Playground; Mean Soup; Purplicious; A Bad Case of the Stripes
