Mrs. Burrow's Fabulous
 Fourth Graders

Here's what we will be working on this week:

Reading: We will be finishing up our literature circles this week. Students should be completing their independent projects. Groups will work on their project beginning on Friday.  Here are the books the different groups are reading:
Red and Yellow: Pirates Past Noon
Blue: Not So Jolly Roger
Green: Pirates of the Caribbean

Writing: Students are currently writing a narrative about a special time in their lives. We are concentrating on small moments in time. For example, instead of writing about the ball game, a student would write about hitting the winning run.

Social Studies: We are learning about the three main language groups of early Americans in North Carolina. Students have been assigned a peephole box project on a North Carolina Indian village. This project is due on November 25. I have explained the requirements for the project and the grading rubric that will be used. Stop by the media center after Thanksgiving and have a look!

Math: We are still exploring the world of division. This week we will divide 2 digits by 1 digit with 2 digit quotients and 1 digit quotients (with and without remainders). Please encourage your child to master those multiplication facts. It will make learning the process of division so much easier!

Our fundraiser is off to a great start. Students should be collecting money as they sell cookie dough. Turn in date is this Thursday, November 20.

Students had the opportunity to visit the AR store today. They were very excited over the prizes they were able to "purchase" with their AR points. Hopefully, this will be an incentive to read and earn even more AR points this quarter!

Mid-term progress reports will go home December 3.

I hope you have a wonderful week!
