Parents,

The Second Quarter starts this Monday.  Please make sure that your child is reading every night for 30 minutes and recording it on his/her home reading log.  Also, there is homework due each week, and a quiz each Friday.  Support your child by making sure he or she is in school every day turning in homework assignments and studying for the weekly quizzes. Thanks for your support!

8-31 - Where do writers' get ideas?

9-1 - Think about Abraham Lincoln and write down all the facts you know about him.

9-2 -What questions would you ask about a person if you wanted to write a biography? What would you want to know?

9-3- How do you as a reader determine what is important when you read or after you read?

9-4 - Textbooks issued today!  Please take them home and leave them at home until you are asked to bring them back in June.

Home Work for the week of August 24, 2009

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2009-10 School Year.  Your child is enrolled in Reading Language Arts.  Please read the introductory letter that was sent home the first day of school, sign it and return it to me.  Please email me if there are any questions or problems.  I have the following as home work for this week:

8-24-25 - shop for supplies: 2 1/2 inch Binder, 100 -page composition book, wide rule notebook paper, index cards, dividers, black/blue ink pens, highlighter, post-it-notes, and a box of Kleenex.

8-26 - list several ways to choose a book.

8-27 Choose a book from the library or home for reading at home.  (You must get a library card)

8-28- in-class reading/writing survey
