This program teaches kids to read, write, and spell. The Zoo-phonics Program teaches the alphabet using a cast of Animal characters and sounds, and a body movement that directly relates to the Animal/Letter, allowing children to utilize the alphabet immediately.

We will study many authors this year.  We will study Laura Numeroff, Jan Brett and Eric Carle indepth.  These authors have their own websites. You and your child should visit these websites.  They have wonderful activities.  We studied Laura Numeroff during the fall, Jan Brett starting in December and continuing through the school year, and last we will study Eric Carl in the Spring.

Popcorn words are sight words your child will learn to read this year. Popcorn words are words that "pop" up in our daily reading. Check back monthly for new words. Practice reading these words. Make flashcards, point them out in stories you read together, and practice writing them.
