February News

Dear Parents,
     The month of February will be a very busy month. We have many new things to learn. 
  • Letters of the month:
          January 30- Letter Hh. The question of the week will be; What can we learn from our adventures? Our new high frequency words will be; are, do and that. Our amazing words will be; world, lonely, trip, horizon, journey and homesick. The story will be Rooster's Off to See the World.
          February 6- Letter Ll. The question of the week will be; What is a lucky adventure? Our amazing words will be; piglet, fox, lucky, filthy, cook and scrubber. Our genre will be poems. The story will be; My Lucky Day.
          February 13- Review. The question of the week will be; What adventures can animals have? Our new high frequency words will be; one, two, three, four and five. Our amazing words will be; woodland, nest, vale, hollow, comfortable and shadows. Our story will be; One Little Mouse.  
          February 20- No school
          February 27- Letter Gg.The question of the week will be;How can an adventure cause trouble? Our amazing words will be; bears, pooridge, cottage, big, middle-sized and small. Our story will be; Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will discuss telling sentences, compound words and Folk Tales.  

  • Math concepts:  Money,counting by 2's,putting quanties with number words,introduction of solids and graphing.

  • 100th Day Party- February 14(unless we have a snow day before that date).Please remember to help your child make the 100 day hat or shirt. Remember to have fun!
  • Valentine' Day Party- February 14. Each child needs to bring in their Valentine's on that day or the day before.  Please have your child sign their name and address each envelope with a classmates name. We will use this as practice reading our classmates names.
  • February 20-24 No School- February Vacation
