We have been talking about the beginning, middle, and end of stories. This helps us when we retell a story.  When your child is reading or you read to your child ask your child to start at the beginning of the story and tell what happened.  Don’t look back at the story!  Ask your child to tell you the setting, characters, any problem(s) that happened in the story and how they were solved.
  In Writing each child wrote his/her own story about what he/she had learned about Penguins.  We are also writing sentences using describing words. 
  In Math we are comparing numbers   1 - 10.  New words we are learning: more, greater, fewer and less.

Sounding out 3 letter words
Words:  I, a, see, to, like, my, and, it, is, in, we, at, the, me, are, here, do, on, and you.
Words: zero - ten
Read, read, read.

Important Dates
Feb. 2 - Report cards go home
Feb. 8 - Trip to Horizons Unlimited in Salisbury.  Due to limited space we will not invite parents on this trip.  We will leave about 8:15 and return around 11:50.  We will eat lunch at school.  If we do not miss anymore school Feb. 8 will also be the 100th day!  We have special center activities planned for that afternoon.
Feb. 12 - Valentine’s Day snack
Feb. 15 - This was a teacher workday/make-up day.  NOW it will be a regular school day to make-up for Jan. 25.

A new contest has started to see which class can turn in the most “Box tops for Education.”  You may send these anytime.  Thanks!
