Welcome to Bost & Torrence's Busy Bees' Website!

Here’s the Buzz!

I have enjoyed talking with those of you who have come in for the report card conference.  I still have a few to do next week!  I believe it takes parents, teachers, and students working together to achieve success.

We started a new theme in our reading series called, “We’re a Family.”  We reviewed the letter Tt and its sound.

We are also learning about the election.  We voted today for president and the governor of North Carolina.  We will know Monday who was elected!  If you can take your child with you to vote.  It’s not too early for him/her to learn the importance of voting.

In math we have been making graphs and reviewing our numbers 1 - 5.

Things to Practice

Writing your name.

Writing the ABCs.

Letters & letter sounds.

Writing numbers 0 - 5.

Recognizing the color words and the words: I, see, and my.

Important Dates

Nov. 2 - Daylight Savings Time Ends.

“Spring forward, Fall back”

Nov. 4 - Teacher workday - Election Day

No school

Nov.  11 - Veteran’s Day - No school

T-shirts

Each child needs to bring an adult size medium or large plain white t-shirt by Nov. 14.  We can always use extra if you happen to have some.  These will be used for our Native American costumes.

Thanks

To those of you who brought items for our Fall snack and treat bags.

To Stacey’s parents for our pumpkin that Mrs. Lesslie carved for us!

“Box Tops”
We will be collecting box tops all year so you can send them anytime.  Thanks!

Homework
Each Monday your child will bring home a homework packet for the week in his/her notebook.  Homework provides extra practice.  It is a great time to work one-on-one with your child.  These activities will teach responsibility but should also be fun and enriching.

Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.  They can learn much better when they are awake and alert.

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year please feel free to call me. The school number is 704-933-2534 ext. 202 and my home number is 704-857-7300.
