Mrs. Tarner's 6th Grade Language Arts Homepage ![]() Important Dates & Reminders: • Team Awards have been rescheduled for Monday, February 15th at 7:30am in the Gym. •Wordskills Lesson 7 Quiz has been rescheduled (from last Thursday) to this Wednesday, Feb. 9th. •Tutoring Wednesdays until 3:15 • Tutoring/Use of School Resources Tues./ Thurs.until 3:15 (for Language Arts only) This week in class: • Students continue the unit on persuasive writing both in class and at home. Help your child pay attention to current local or national issues that may be open for debate. These are possibilities for writing assignments... •On Thursday, we begin our Big 6 Research project, with an introduction to finding resources in our Media Center. Ask your child about the Scavenger Hunt! • Students will continue to learn and use the 12 powerful words to help with test-taking skills. • Students are still required to read each night, ideally for 30 minutes, log it and have a parent sign the log. Please check in with your child each night to see if they have completed a book. When books are completed, they need to do a "One-Pager" on that book within the next week. This counts as a quiz grade. •Please note: Click on the attachments link on this page to access-- --class syllabus --current long-term assignments --rubrics and other information. •Click on the Flashcards link for study cards for the 12 Powerful Words, Wordskills and Literary Terms. Reminder: The Knights team requires that students have a book to read with them at all times, so please check with your child to see that they have a book each day. •Please continue to check and sign the agenda daily.
