As of April 1, 2012

Southeast Middle School has moved to a new webpage system.  Here is the link to my new page:

This Week in Language Arts:

Students have begun our poetry unit with a lesson on mood and tone in film.  We will continue studying mood and tone in film and poetry next week before the break.  We have also been working on getting to know word parts and new vocabulary, with a quiz scheduled for Tuesday, April 3rd.

We have begun a new schedule, including an afternoon block of time we call "KnightTime".  This is a 20-minute period at the end of the day where students are work on one-pagers, read, get organized, ask a teacher for help on an assignment, or get caught up if they have been absent.  Ask your child what they think of KnightTime!

Upcoming:

After the break, students will continue the poetry unit with reading, analyzing and writing poetry.  The unit ends with a Poetry Book project and publishing party in May.

Upcoming Dates to Note:

•Reading Log and Vocabulary Packet due Tuesday, April 3rd; Vocabulary Quiz on Tuesday April 3rd.

•Student-Led conferences on Tuesday, April 3rd in the Media Center from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m.  Come see your child's work in all classes, including their Big 6 projects and presentations, and pick up report cards.  This is also a time to sign PEP's or DEP's (for AIG students) for the final time this year.  Students are expected to attend with their parents.

•Spring Break is from April 4th through April 15th.  Students return to school on Monday, April 16th.

•We communicate regularly with you through the agenda, and require a parent signature each night.  You may write us notes there, too.

In addition to contacting us through the agenda, please feel free to email me with any questions, as this is the easiest way to reach me.
