Welcome to Celebrating Sacraments & Ecclesiology

This page will be updated on a weekly basis when possible. Students and parents can stay on top of what is going on in class by checking Schoolnotes. If you need to get in touch with me you can email me or call the school.

Have a great year!

Code of Conduct

It is my intention to create and maintain a productive and respectful atmosphere in our classroom. In order to make this happen I will need the cooperation of all the students and expect that all will comply with the regulations outlined in the SJHS handbook. Class will always begin with a prayer. If a student is not Catholic he is expected to maintain a respectful silence or to pray any prayer of his own silently.

Since this course will sometimes deal with sensitive issues and will also require us to share and express our opinions and feelings with each other, our classroom must be a place where each student will feel a sense of security. Confidentiality and respect is imperative. Any breaches in this regard will be dealt with immediately.

In order to be successful in this course each student will need to be a prepared participant. What that means is that all homework and reading assignments must be completed on time, all handouts and notes must be maintained in an organized binder (or section of a binder) and that every student is expected to be “involved” in class. For class notes you may use any kind of notepad you wish to use. Please make sure you bring several writing utensils, your textbook and notebook to class each day.

Grading Policy

Each student’s grade will be a combination of class quizzes, tests and homework/class work assignments. Quiz grades will make up 60% of the total, tests will be worth 30% and assignments 10%. We will attempt to cover one chapter per week and the quizzes will be given on Wednesday (when possible) covering the chapter we finished the previous week. Changes to this schedule may have to be made to account for days off, for inclement weather or school holidays. Homework/class work is expected to be done and handed in on time. No homework/class work will be accepted late and must be handed in during the regular class period. However, if a student is absent, the work will be accepted the day the student returns. Students are encouraged to keep a record of each of their grades so that they will not be surprised by progress reports or report cards.

Grades

As reflected in the Handbook, grading for quizzes and quarterly averages will fall within the ranges below:

A+ 96-100 C 72-76

A 91-95 D+ 69-71

B+ 86-90 D 65-68

B 81-85 F 0-64

C+ 77-80

Absences

If you are absent from school for any reason you must be proactive and get the assignments from me. Students are responsible for all assignments and quizzes and must make up any test missed. All tests and quizzes must be completed within two days after the student returns. As stated above, homework is due the day the student returns. If you are absent because of a death in the family please notify me so that I am aware of the situation and special arrangement can be made. Students and parents please check Schoolnotes.com for updates.
