                                WELCOME TO MISS BAKER'S WEBPAGE

Please look at the end of this page to see important end of the year info!

Spanish I students are finishing up our final topic this week - Partes del Cuerpo (Parts of the Body).  We will be having our test this week and finishing up the curriculum in order to begin reviewing for final exams.  This is very valuable knowledge and vocabulary for those students wishing to enter the medical field in the future.  It can also come in handy if you ever travel to a Spanish speaking country and require medical attention.   Level I students also received their Performance Assessments, Letter of Introduction.  (Please see below.)

Students in my Spanish III classes will continue their unit on Spain.  We will also be learning our final grammatical concepts in order to begin preparing for our final exam.  All Spanish III students will also be working on completing their Performance Assessment, Ideal Mate.  (see below)  Per. 2 students will be reading La Caperucita Roja (Little Red Riding Hood) and reenacting the story in their own words.

All students have received their final Common Task which is the Performance Assessment for the Final Exam.  Students will have two weeks total to complete and turn in a rough draft and edit it and produce their final draft.

Students in all classes should be preparing for their oral exams which will count as a quiz grade.  Dates for each class are listed below.

I update this website at least once per week and students and parents can expect to find homework assignments, due dates, test/quiz dates, important notices/information, and ways to keep up the good work at home!  If you have any questions or concerns during the year please contact me at jbaker@cpsed.net.

Spanish III Culinary Tasting - Chef Martha and her associates have been gracious enough to prepare a Spanish food tasting for us.  We will be sampling Spanish cheeses and olives as well as paella.  What a great way to finish off the year and slow down and enjoy each other's company as the Spaniards would do!  The cost for this activity is $4 per student for supplies.  This money is due on Tuesday, 5/22/12 for all Spanish 3 classes.

Common Task/Portfolio Uploads - The last day to upload a portfolio-worthy assignment is Thursday, 5/31/12.

Common Task/Performance Assessment - Students in all classes are expected to submit a performance assessment as part of their end of the year assessment.  This will be rated 0-4 and there will be a column on the report card for this task.  Proficient completion of this project demonstrates that students have mastered the curriculum and are ready to move on to the next level.  Students in Spanish I will be writing a letter of introduction which will include information about themselves including, but not limited to, personal and physical characteristics, where they live, family members, preferred classes and activities, like and dislikes, etc.  These will be discussed next week in class and final copies will be due no later than Thursday, June 7th.  Spanish III students will be receiving their task, Ideal Mate, this week. Due dates for their final copies are as follows:

Per. 2 - Wednesday, 5/30/12; Per. 4 & 7 - Friday, 6/1/12
