May/June News May 6 Field Trip to Horizons May 18 - 20 EOG Testing May 31 - Memorial Day Holiday (No School) June 10 Last Day of School!!!!! Reading: As the year winds to a halt, we will focus on using our "total reader brain" by using all the reading strategies we have studied this year. Students will interact with stories and passages using their interactive reading journals. In addition, we will also finish the year working on our high frequency words (spelling and speaking them correctly). Math: We will finish the year analyzing data, studying new geometry concepts and reviewing all the math concepts we have covered this year. A special area of focus will be with multiplication and division. Writing: Students are busy working on their poetry folders. We have some very creative students who are letting their "poetic" voices stand out. Science: This month is all about electricity and magnetism. We will also take a field trip to Horizons where the kids will have hands-on activities. Social Studies: The year ends with our focus on the impact of technology here in North Carolina as well as our lives. |
