SADDLE UP FOR SUCCESS! LASSO YOUR LEARNING!
Welcome to Fifth Grade
It is hard to believe that we are in the second quarter. Many students are working on becoming more responsible. If your child has a ticket in his/her weekly folder, please discuss this with him/her. Everyone forgets something once in awhile, but several tickets in a week signals a problem. Responsibility for learning and being prepared is a big part of the student's role. However, there is no limit to what students, parents, and teachers can accomplish working together. School success is entirely based on a joint effort among all three. I have great confidence that together we can saddle up for success and lasso our learning!
We still have a period of silent reading each day. It is very important for your child to have a book to read at all times. Books may be obtained from home, a library, or the classroom. Ask your child frequently what he/she is reading. Many students have written book summaries as part of the "Book-It" program.
A brief outline of our studies for the next few days can be found below:
Reading/Language Arts- vocabulary, comprehension, multiple meanings
