Salisbury Walking Tour Each year, the third grade classes in Rowan-Salisbury Schools take a tour of Salisbury. They visit the different historic sites that hold tell the stories of the people that lived and continue to live in our community. The North Carolina Standard Course of Study for social studies has a primary purpose, the development of citizenship education. So as the students tour the historic landmarks of Salisbury, they will be developing concepts and generalizations from history, geography, and other social sciences in the context of looking at our history of homes, schools, neighborhoods, and communities.
