Math- 5th grade math classes will begin new units on Monday, February 6 DVD math will start working with different graphs and addition and subtraction with fractions. Trent math will start unit 7, Exponents and Negative Numbers. Reading- Each Tuesday students will receive 2 non-fiction articles to read and answer questions. These yellow packets are due the following Monday. Parents are encouraged to complete these packets with their child and both parent and students must sign at the bottom of the questions page. These assignments are designed to help students as they prepare for the state testing. Writing- The first persuasive paper is due on Friday, 2/10. Students will then choose a topic to write the second persuasive paper. Science- We are using a "Science Court" program to study the water cycle. Students work in groups of 4-5 to complete experiments and answer questions. Social Studies- Worksheets are assigned on Monday and are due Friday of the same week. Spelling packets are handed out after direct instruction about the week's spelling rule. Packets are due on Friday of the same week. Students may practice the spelling words on SpellingCity.com. February Reading Logs are due February 29. |
