![]() Music Booster's News Our next Music Booster's meeting will be Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 PM in the WRMS Cafeteria. Please plan to come as we will be discussing upcoming events for the music classes, as well as efforts to finance these events. Remember, becoming a member of the WRMS Music Boosters is absolutely FREE!! You just have to be a parent or guardian or grandparent of a student in the chorus or music classes, and come to the meetings to see how you can help out our program. Another way to help fund our choral activities is to link your Harris Teeter VIC card and your Food Lion MVP card to the WRMS Musiic Boosters. We will receive money based on the items you purchase every week from these stores. Please be sure to sign up for email updates whenever I add new information to this webpage. It's easy! Just click on the "notify me" link at the top of the page and enter your email address. The focus of instruction for this quarter is learning to read music, as well as learning proper vocal techniques. We are begnning lessons in sightsinging. Our main focus for the coming quarter is sightsinging and musc theory. Following are the important dates for the Treble Choir and the Young Men's Choir: *Holday Concert -- December 15, 2009, 7:00 PM WRMS Cafeteria *Holday Concert at Salisbury Mall -- December 16, 2009, 9:00 AM til 1:30 PM *District Choral Festival -- TBA, probably late March All County Chorus -- March 12, 2009 Corriher-Lipe Middle School Spring Trip -- TBA All-State Chorus -- Aprl 24-25, 2010 Greensboro Coliseum *Spring Concert May 25, 2010, WRMS Cafeteria, 7:00 PM *Attendance Required ~ Quarter grade largely influenced by attendance! 7th Grade News 7th grade music students will be studying Alto recorder this year. Students in 7th grade music class are studying note names, counting rhythms and sight reading music on recorders, handbells, drums and Orff instruments this quarter. In addition, students are learning about music from cultures around the world 6th Grade News All 6th grade students need their own recorder. I have recorders for sale, $6.00 each. Make checks payable to WRMS Music Boosters. . 6th grade students this quarter will begin their introductory lessons on recorder, handbell and Orff instruments. We will be continuing to build our skills playing these instruments as well as drums, and improving our music reading skills. In addition, students will be studying the instruments of the orchestra, as well as musical styles, instruments and dance from the Renaissance. |
