Welcome Back!  I am very excited about this school year!  I will be sending home a letter to parents on the first day of class.  Please review the letter and class syllabus with your child, sign, and return to me.  If you have any questions please feel free to call me at the school (ext. 6144) or email me through this site.  My conference period is from 10:00-11:20.  I look forward to a successful year!

Materials needed for this class:

1. 3-ring binder

2. college-ruled paper

3. pens(blue or black ink) and pencils

4. 2 3-pronged folders with pockets

Service Learning Project:

Each student will be sent home on the first day with a packet explaining the service
learning project. This is a community service project that must be
completed through every student's social studies course. Freshmen must
complete five hours. The students are to turn in a proposal for their
project on Wednesday, August 27. This will count as a quiz grade.
Students are encouraged to come talk to me before submitting their
proposal.  We have discussed in class what will and will not be approved. The final project which includes, reflective time logs, a one
page essay, and signatures from the student's supervisor is due in a
3-pronged folder on Wednesday, October 1. This is worth a major test
grade.  I encourage students to complete the project as soon as possible because projects and tests tend to pile up at the end of a nine weeks period.  They may turn it in early.
