Homework Week of October 12, 2009 Monday No School; no homework! Tuesday Finish working on graphic organizer for MCAS practice. Wednesday Journal Rewrite your favorite fairy tale from another character's point of view. Example: tell what happened in "The Three Little Pigs" from the wolf's point of view. Since the example has actually been done, be sure to select a different fairy tale. Thursday Journal Write two paragraphs explaining a current event that is of interest to you. Friday Get your agenda book signed. If you forget this week I will begin to give homework on the weekend. ************************************************************** Week of October 5, 2009 Monday In your journal write two paragraphs explaining what happens when Laurie’s mom returns from the PTA meeting. Pretend you are the author, Shirley Jackson, and use her voice.
Tuesday In your journal, write two paragraphs predicting what Laurie’s family will be like in ten years. Are there more children? Are they well behaved or is the house chaotic?
Wednesday In your journal, write two paragraphs and explain why it is important for family members to meet with teachers.
Thursday In your journal, write tow paragraphs discussing a current event that is of special interest to you.

Monday – In your journal write two paragraphs explaining what makes a strong opening memorable. Start by writing down the excerpt, title of the book, and the author. Tuesday – In your journal write two paragraphs explaining and describing your favorite food. Wednesday - In your journal write two paragraphs explaining and describing what your bedroom looks like. Thursday - In your journal write two paragraphs explaining whether HMS should continue to have more discussion groups. Why/Why not? Friday - Get your agenda book signed.

Monday August 31, 2009 Students must purchase the following supplies: A binder with five dividers or a five-subject notebook, a pocket thesaurus, a composition book for journal writing, a highlighter, a two-pocket folder, and some pens. Any parent who can send in tissues or hand sanitizing lotion in for class use will have my eternal gratitude.
