Thursday June 3rd: Finished explaining how to find the size of the most economical container when you know the volume. Worked individually with students as they reviewed for the test tomorrow.
Wednesday June 2nd: 1. Students worked on an in class asssignment on Economy of Rate. This was peer corrected afterwards. 2. Corrected #6 on page 277. 3. Corrected some of the work on page 281. Homework: Study for the unit test on Friday.
Tuesday June 1st: Corrected Questions 4-6 from the Chapter 6 handout. Explained how to do #7 and worked on questons 11, 12 and 15 on page on page 281.
Monday May 31st: Corrected the investigation from Friday and worked on #6, page 277 of the textbook.
Friday May 27th: Supply Teacher 1. Worked on Investigation 3 from the textbook. 2. Completed any other work outstanding. Thursday May 26th: 2. Students completed Investigation 2 and passed it in and continued on the chapter assignment. This assignment is due on Monday. Wednesday May 26th: 1. Write a quiz on volume. 2. Work on Investigation 2 from the textbook, page 271- 272. Tuesday May 25th: 1. Explain to the students that to find surface area, you add up the areas of all sides of the object. 2. Explain the term lateral surface, the curved surface of a cylinder that unfolds to a rectangle. Its dimensions are the circumference of the base and the height of the cylinder. 3. Work from the textbook, page 271, #s 1 and 2.
Monday May 24th: Holiday
Friday May 21st: 1. Corrected the questions on page 269. 2. Worked on a chapter worksheet, #s 1-5.
Thursday May 20th: 1. Quiz on finding the area of a polygon. 2. Correct the questions to Investigation 1. 3. Work on page 269 of the textbook and answer #12-#15.
Wednesday May 19th: 1. Review Investigation 1: Trig must be used, except in the first one. 2. Work on page 269 of the textbook and answer #12-#15. Most students did not get to this. They were still working on Investigation 1. Tuesday May 18th: Discussed the purpose of the unit: to find the most economical container to hold the goods that a company produces. This involves knowing the volume and the surface area of the container. We just completed working on volume and now we are focusing on surface area. We worked on finding the area of a regular polygon by dividing the polygon into triangles and finding the height of each triangle by using trig. Monday May 17th: Continue working on Pumping Up the Volume. Returned the unit test on Linear Programming. Homework: Complete the assignment above. Friday May 14th: Worked on the assignment, Pumping Up the Volume. Thursday May 13th: 1. Collect the homework from last night. 2. Correct the textbook questions on page 260 and 261. (Smart Notes) 3. Continue working on page 261 and 262. 4. Begin work on the handout, Pumping Up the Volume. Wednesday May 12th: 1. Review the formulas for area and volume of different geometric figures. 2. Using the textbook answer questions on page 260 and 261. Tuesday May 11th: Students who needed to, completed the test from Thursday and then they completed the graphing project they were working on last Wednesday. |
