Unit/Lesson Plan Template Unit/Lesson Plan Title: Apples with Johnny Appleseed Subject: Science, Math, Writing Grade Level: K-1 Length of Lesson: 2 weeks Unit/Lesson Summary: The study of apples. Incorporating Johnny Appleseed Key Vocabulary: graph, tally marks, data, records Essential Question(s): How can we represent our individual choices? NCSCOS Essential Standards Addressed in Unit/Lesson: Media: Competency goal 1: The learner will explore sources and formats for reading, listening, and viewing purposes. 1.01 Participate in read-aloud, storytelling, booktalking, silent and voluntary reading experiences. 1.02-Demonstrate competence and self motivation as a beginning reader. 1.05-Demonstrate sense of story. 1.09 Demonstrate the awareness that resources convey meaning and exist in a variety of formats. 5.01-Respond to reading, listening, viewing experiences orally, artistically, dramatically through various formats. Technology Objective 1.05 Identify graphing as a tool for organizing information. Strand - Spreadsheet Objective 1.06 Identify and discuss graphing software terms/concepts (e.g., graph, patterns, display). Procedure: Reader’s Theatre in the media center; Numbers chart on apples; Kidspiration venn diagram on apples. Classroom activities; Play on apples; Different language activities on apples; Making puppets out of paper bags.
